Now approaching its 20th year, The High Street Caffe has gone above and beyond the reputation of being consistent. Winning “Best of Philly” in 1999 was just the start of culinary recognition. We have been selected as “Best of the Main Line for Cajun & Creole” 10 years counting and have also been selected by the people of Chester County. The High Street Caffe has also been recognized by the Zagat review posting a 29 out of 30 points for cuisine. Many are of the opinion that it was the High Street Caffe that put West Chester on the map as a culinary destination.

Our Roots

In 1996, Proprietor Donny Syracuse teamed up with executive chef Jay Wenner. Syracuse, fresh off the tour bus traveled around the world playing with “Arcade” (Ratt and Cinderella) opening for Bon Jovi. Wenner was then a sauté chef at another favorite dining spot, The New Orleans Café in Ridley. The pairing of this duo created a blend of Creole cuisine and rock and roll that further shaped the Purple-infused Caffe. It is not uncommon to find a tour bus outside the Caffe. Such guests as Ratt, Cinderella, G Love & Special Sauce, Poison, Dokken, and the Black Crowes have been known to pop in and party with the High Street crew. You can feel the vibe of High Street as soon as you walk in.

Our Food

Rack of Wild Boar, Ostrich, Kangaroo and Alligator are just a few of the exotic dishes that show up on our nightly specials. French Quarter favorites such as Jambalaya and Etouffee have a staple at High Street Caffe. With over 20 appetizers and 30 entrée selections the High Street Caffe has become known for its “repeat customers” that just can’t wait to come back and make their way through the menu.
